If you’ve ever read my blog before, you know that I love, love, love Melissa and Doug. This latches board toy that they’ve made is no exception. Toddlers love opening and closing doors, fitting things in and out of place, slide things back and forth, etc. It’s also extremely good for them as they develop their motor skills.

So, that brings us to the Melissa & Doug Deluxe Latches Board. Can I just say I love this thing? It’s well-made from wood, it’s got six different activities for kids to play with, the latches are attached properly so they don’t pose a safety hazard to little mouths, it’s colorful and fun, and it’s reasonably priced at less than $20.

If you have a kid that is constantly trying to unbutton their clothing, open doors, unlatch their car seat, etc – you know the type – this latches board might just be the perfect thing to keep their little hands occupied for a while.

I have heard from some people that some of the latches are initially a bit hard to open. If you find that to be the case, you may want to open and close them yourself a time or ten before you pass it on to Jr. to play with. The movement will loosen them right up and they’ll be easier to open in no time at all.

Bottom line, the Melissa & Doug Deluxe Latches Board is a great deal for the money. Your child will outgrow this toy before he breaks it and it’s one that you’ll keep around for several kids, and maybe even a grandkid or two…it’s that well made.
