If your kids have started talking to you in text messaging terms, like LOL and OMG, then the LOL Text Messaging Game is a great choice for you. It’s sort of like Scrabble for the new generation. Instead of creating words, with this spelling game (and, yes, I’m using the word spelling really loosely here), players will use their letter tiles to create text messaging terms.
Here’s how this fun text messaging game works:
Each player takes ten tiles per round. Once the players have taken their tiles, a timer is set for three minutes and players rush to create different text messaging phrases on the grid with their tiles.
At the end of each round, players can contest the messages of other players if they don’t believe that they are actual text messaging phrases. Since there isn’t an official text messaging dictionary and new text messaging phrases are used all the time, it’s a little difficult to prove or disprove a specific phrase. But the disagreements can be pretty entertaining – trust me!
The text messaging kids board game is a definitely a silly game, but it is a great way for parents to connect with kids and learn the phrases that they are using with their kids. My kids love to show me how much more they know than me, even though the improper use of grammar is annoying as heck to me as a mom. We still have a fun time playing it and even my 5-year old knows a text messaging phrase or two.
The LOL Text Messaging Game is going to put you out just under $20, but your kids are sure to have fun playing it. It’s a great sleepover night game too!
