Picked up a Fun Sand Art Kit for my kids the other day, even though I really don’t like crafts that have the potential to make a big mess, and sand definitely does! But we were quickly running out of things to do over Christmas break and something had to give. Enter the sand art kit.
We found a Glow in the Dark set at Walmart and had so much fun making our sand art guys that I started thinking it would be a great idea for something to do at a kids party. Then I found THIS set of sand art supplies at Amazon and had to order them for our next sleepover or birthday party.
The kit comes with enough materials to make 12 sand creatures – including containers, stoppers, eyes, pompoms, and chenille stems for decorating. The sand in this kit is supposed to glow in the dark.
Sand art is a great way to keep kids busy, and if you let them create their art on a table that’s sitting on hard flooring – like hardwood, tile, or vinyl, the ensuing mess really isn’t that hard to clean up when you’re done.
We made our own funnels out of paper, which made it easier for my kids to pour sand without help from me. You’ll also want to have some glue on hand to glue on the pompoms when the kids are ready to decorate the outside of the bottle.
This Sand Art Kit is just under $19 and comes with enough supplies to make a dozen crafts, so it’s definitely worth the money. My daughter is proudly displaying her creatures all over the house!
